Yoga, as a philosophy, serves as a cosmology affording us an understanding of our place within the creativity of the Universe. Yoga, as a meditative practice of mindfulness, breathwork and poses or asanas can lead us inward to our True Nature, a place of stillness and peace. Performing yoga asanas (poses) distracts the busy mind, allowing it to quiet and unite with the breath. A quiet or silent mind is essential to access the inner spaciousness of True Being. Universal truth, love, compassion and all thought arise from here. Each of us is "the limitless one". All life is the limitless one.
There is no individual "me" in the unicity of life, in the Oneness of it All. Consciousness is all.
In the words of some of the great masters...
Wanting to reform the world without discovering one's true self is like trying to cover the world with leather to avoid the pain of walking on stones and thorns. It is much simpler to wear shoes.
The practice of yoga brings us face to face with the extraordinary complexity of our own being.
The study of asana is not about mastering posture. It's about using posture to understand and transform yourself.
